The NYCN Epe Branch in collaboration with Civil Society Organizations, Lagos State had on Thursday, staged a public awareness campaign in a bid to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Covid-19 in Epe
Statistics have proven that Epe Local Government is part of the three local government that are not affected with the deadly pandemic, and in order to further ensure the safety of the Epe people, there is need for them to adhere strictly to the lock down rule.
Channels TV in Epe
Despite the news gathered by Channels TV last week that the people of Epe are not responding to the lockdown order of the Lagos State and Federal Government respectively.
Epe still remain safe and that shows that the residents and leaders always take precautions to avoid the spread of Covid-19 within the local government area.
In view of this, the youth council had deemed it fit to sensitize the people of Epe so as to avoid the possibility of recording any case of the deadly pandemic in Epe jurisdiction.
Pandemic in Epe
It was said that there was an epidemic virus that spread within Epe in the olden days which was latter cured by our fore father’s and since then nothing of such occured in Epe to date.
The Awareness campaign of the National Youths Council of Nigeria had in attendance not up to 10 individuals who represented different organization under the National Youth council of Nigeria, Epe Branch.
The take off point was the youth council office in Epe local government secretariat as they further visited different places, which includes;
The two palace of royal Fathers in Epe Township;
- Palace of the Oloja of Epe, His Royal Magesty King Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun .
- Palace of the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom His Royal Magesty King Adewale Shefiu.
- Oluwo Market,
- Ayetoro Market and other major highways within Epe Township.
From The Coordinator
The Coordinator of the Youth Council, Comrade Ladele Ismail in his brief emphasized the need for the people to stay indoor, stating that the widespread virus doesn’t respect anyone human race.
He noted that it is understandable that some individuals are met to provide essential services to the community but further appeal to people in such category to get their personal hand gloves, nose mask; maintain social distancing; wash their hands frequently with clean water and soap or possibly use hand sanitizer.

He also stated that the report of the Youths breaking windows at night, destroying properties and stealing from the poor who are struggling to survive. If any Youths is caught in this act, it will be difficult to get him released and he shall face the Court.
However, he urged the Youths in the community to desist from all kinds of illegal activities as this will soil their integrity and debar them from future opportunities.
He said this having observed the rate at which hoodlums engage in criminal activities in the recent times which they claimed is as a result of hunger.
The Lagos State Government has make provision for the Youths through the Food Package Program to cater for at least one meal per day across the 20 LGA and 37 LCDA within the state.
According to an individual named Felix Johnson, who appreciated the youth council for the wonderful initiative, stated that the people are actually not taking the pandemic serious.
But he is hoping this awareness will awaken their conciousness and will make them adhere strictly to the laid down rules by Government in order to curtail the spread of the Wuhan Virus.
