It is no longer a news that the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has ordered every citizens to link their National Identity Number (NIN) to their respective SIM cards or face termination of service from network providers.
Following the NCC instruction, the major network providers in Nigeria like MTN, Glo, Airtel and 9mobile have released their easy and quick ways for all their subscribers to link their National Identity Number {NIN} to their Phone Numbers.

If you are yet to enrol for the National ID card scheme, you can dial *346# to check if you are already registered or not.
How to Apply for National Identity Number (NIN).
You can proceed to the office of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Enrolment Centres at your Local Government Secretariat close to you.
Link your NIN to your MTN Sim Card
Dial 785# using the phone number you wish to link, enter your NIN and submit or dial *785Your NIN# from the phone number you wish to link. The number will be linked to your NIN automatically.
You can also visit https://mtnonline.com/nin/ or download MyMTN App through Google Play Store to submit your NIN details.

Link your NIN to your Glo Sim Card
You can now link your National Identification Number (NIN) to your mobile number as a Glo subscriber. Simply send “UPDATENIN NIN First Name and Last Name” to 109.

Download the NIMC MWS Mobile ID App
First, make sure any previous (Beta) version of the NIMC MWS Mobile App has been uninstalled from your mobile device.
Get the app from https://nimcmobile.app >>
DO NOT download the app from dubious websites and social media accounts which may be sharing malicious or corrupt app files.

To print your NIN slip with the QR code and view your mobile app usage records go to https://myportal.nimc.gov.ng >>
Get your UserID from the Mobile ID app and a one-minute OTP from the “I Need a PIN” button on the app as well – the UserID and OTP are the credentials you use for logging into https://myportal.nimc.gov.ng
Check all your apps to see if the Mobile ID app was actually installed, first, if you encounter difficulties like an error message during installation.
If, after installation, you encounter a “No Internet connection available” or “Network request failed” error in some sections of the app or are unable to scan and verify an ID QR code:
- – check and make sure your device is actually connected to the Internet
- – tap on the middle “Tools” icon at the bottom of the app screen, tap on the “Settings” button, then tap on the “Wipe Mobile ID Data” option to enable you re-enter your ID details and reconnect your app.
- – you might try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
