Tasks Security heads to beef up security in and around Epe especially ahead of Sallah
The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon Adedoyin Adesanya today held an emergency security meeting with heads of security agencies and community leaders over the illegal development of settlements in some parts of Epe particularly Oko-orisan and Afero village.
Hon Adesanya said the meeting was called as a result of his discovery of illegally developed settlements in the affected areas and activities of people in such areas without recourse to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown order by the government.
The Chairman who over the weekend visited these areas saw them operating food joints, brothels, beer parlors, betting centres etc. in an unkept environment and in total violation of the lockdown order.

He said this brings to fore, the potential security threat their activities poses to the larger society.
The community leaders of the affected areas who were present at the meeting said they gave the areas to the people to settle and trade as a result of total neglect of their communities by different tiers of government and therefore predisposed them to attacks by criminal elements who nearly made their communities desolate.
They called on the government to help bring development like electricity, schools, health centres to their areas as it will help curb some of the problems identified by the local government.
They however promised to cooperate with the government on whatever measures that will be taken to sanitize the areas.
Hon Adesanya promised his administration’s readiness to tackle some of the challenges faced by the communities within the means of the local government.
He said the local government will work with leaders of these communities to sanitize the areas and return sanity to them.
He declared that his administration has a zero tolerance for crime which has reduced criminality in the last few years.
He however urged the security heads to beef up security in around Epe especially during the build up to upcoming sallah celebration where prominent sons and daughters of Epe are expected back home for celebration.
