Plagiarism is not only treated as ethical shortcomings but is also considered illegal and penalized in many jurisdictions because it violates intellectual property rights. Nigeria has struggled for years to take violations of intellectual property rights seriously, leaving many in top places to see nothing unusual about the conduct. The eNaira Website is facing challenges at early stage.
People Gazette Report:
President Buhari himself had been caught repeatedly plagiarizing quotable quotes from Barack Obama and other world leaders. News articles and columns are regularly plagiarized by a large section of print and broadcast journalists nationwide without consequences.
Nigerian lawyer Malachy Odo decried the CBN’s action as a show of shame.
“In normal climes, those responsible for this show of shame wouldn’t need to be prompted to resign,” Mr Odo said.
This is, however, not the first time the CBN will be caught using other people’s work without attribution. In 2012, its then-Governor Lamido Sanusi was caught lifting quotes from an American professor without attribution. The bank later admitted wrongdoing and blamed a speechwriter for it.

The then governor had copied Mr Dike’s intellectual work and presented the idea as his during a public lecture in Edo State without proper attribution.
The apex bank, in a statement by its former corporate communications chief Isaac Okoroafor, defended Mr Sanusi, stating that he did not develop the speech.
“In the case of the CBN, such papers, even though presented by the Governor, represent our collective views and are prepared by professional researchers in the relevant departments of the Bank. We can vouch that such papers are prepared in line with strict global and ethical standards,” the statement parlty read.
Already, the CBN has been locked in a fierce legal battle over the adoption of ‘eNaira’ word mark after a private firm said it registered a trademark for the name in 2004 and filed a copyright infringement lawsuit.
The firm, Enaira Payment Solutions, in its lawsuit sought a restraining order against the launch of e-naira by the apex bank on October 1, 2021, a date initially scheduled for it.
A notice from the firm’s solicitors also stated that: “In the interim, the CBN is hereby warned to cease and desist from using or purporting to use the name eNaira for its product or in any way.”

Reactions of Nigerians Over CBN plagiarism Content:
People gazzete why?
Why exposing our useless leaders? They can’t solve our daily problems that hindered our development. Enaira isn’t what we need.
These people keep disgracing themselves. They don’t know that there’s a difference between web content writing and writing for local newspapers. It’s easy to detect plagiarism from the former.
It’s easy to forgive someone who got a made sum from a project and still did a great job than someone who looted all the money and did a terrible job.
The CBN and everyone who participated in the eNaira website project fell into the second category. Nigeria is a country full of people who want to earn money they didn’t work for.
Are you suprised? Of course I’m not because anything Buhari is fake
from certificate to fake useless enaira reminds me of one crowwwe head slamming terrorist called Adamu. Hahahahaha Buhari is a criminal terrorist
Apc is bokoharam.
What a national/international disgrace and embarrassment again this government is bringing upon this already failed nation. So disgusting to think that this e-naira nonsense was launch by a president with a dubious & questionable WAEC certificate.
How can an app being launched by the CBN-the nation’s apex bank be telling prospective investors (if the have anyway) that it is not liable for any criminality arising from unauthorised access to people’s e-money -Is this how they will instill investors confidence?
Why not allow the banks to determine the tools ans to do their financial networking? No wonder the app crashed with 48 hours of launch. Fake is fake.
Waiting to hear the billions embezzled to launch this corruption. Bunch of fucktards, retards and useless criminals in govt with no iota of innovative thinking of their own.
I trust Nigerians most of them downloaded the app just to rate it low, that’s why it was removed from the play store.
You can’t ban cryptocurrency and be flowing e-naira.
No surprise, expositions like this shouldn’t matter… It seems some people are yet to realize Buhari and Osinbanjo Administration is completely Shameless…
Nothing concern them.
Giving the eNaira website app bad reviews on google playstore will not make the CBN breakdown in tears and abandon the eNaira. And its being unavailable on the Google Playstore will only exclude you android users from getting access to the service. Dazal, nothing more.
Always copying things their brains do not have the capacity to process. They thought floating an online currency is something you just wake up in the morning and do. No prior knowledge. No proper research. No nothing. This govt has succeeded in making this country both a local and an international disgrace.
The implication of this is that enaira is actually a scam digital currency. Plagiarism is one of the ways you identify scam e-currencies. No wonder even the app was so shoddy that it got kicked out from GooglePlay hours after launch.
Nothing works here, I said nothing dey work here not even the enaira website.
Continue wasting your time waiting for enaira wey go useless pass naira and kobo.
Wahala no dey finish for Nigeria. Is their anything this dummies mounting the seats of affair will ever get right?
No normal Nigerian born by his/her papa and mama will transact E-scam. Imagine what scammers are doing with our money in the bank, now you want to take the food to their jaw.
I will rather chop the money in a restaurant/bar where those smelly He-goat meat is being sold. Stepping it down with a dead Heineken/budweiser.
You can win election with Propaganda But you can never succeed in Governance with Propaganda.
This administration has consistently shown that it LACKS people with fresh ideas.
Their main goal from the beginning was just to take power and carry out nepotistic appointments.
They Lack ideas on economy, development and governance.
